Job Description
The Digital Production Artist is a creative thinker who can conceive original or interpret previously-designed creative concepts and produce fully-functional websites, online marketing materials and other electronic materials. This is an evolving position and responsibilities may shift over time. Titles may be adjusted from time to time to accurately reflect responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

Work with Brand & Creative Services to understand the evolving VANOC brand and look relative to online projects
Support production requirements for the existing vancouver2010.com website, including producing static graphics, HTML, animations, online videos and podcasts
Interpret the VANOC brand in relation to the GUI (Graphic User Interface) design for internal and Games applications
Translate creative direction and mockups from the Brand & Creative Services team into page layouts to be handed to programming or external production teams on further iterations of the vancouver2010.com website or related properties.
Design: storyboards; interactive page layouts; application interfaces; electronic newsletters; online marketing and advertising collateral; small-scale and targeted websites
Produce: Flash animations; wireframes and GUI (Graphic User Interface) demos; photo colour corrections, edits and enhancements; short news event videos; podcasts
Support the Communications team with digital asset management requests
Contribute to internal Quality Assurance and UAT (User Acceptance Testing) for online projects
Build and maintaining a team rapport with VANOC Brand & Creative Services, Editorial Services and Internet (Technical) personnel
Other duties may be assigned as required
Job Requirements
Education/Experience:

Strong online portfolio with at least three years of production experience in support of online communications and design
Graphic design or production-related diploma or certificate from a recognized post secondary institution
Developed and diverse communication skills
Ability to transform creative concepts and layouts into fully-produced websites or other online work product
An understanding of information architecture and hierarchy
Comprehensive understanding of interactivity and the Web
Experience in GUI design
Attention to detail, combined with a strong working knowledge of design-related applications is essential.
Passion for detailed production and eagerness to collaborate with other creative people
Proven aptitude for quick creative thinking with acute attention to detail within demanding deadlines
Proficiency with cross-browser/cross-platform issues, DOM(Document Object Model) and web standards
Demonstrated experience in industry-standard web-specific graphic production software applications, including:

Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Illustrator
Macromedia Fireworks
Macromedia Flash

Demonstrated experience in web scripting and markup languages, including:

HTML
CSS
Javascript
XML/XSL/XSLT
ActionScript

Experience in motion graphics and audio production an asset:

Adobe Premiere (or other film editing and production suite)
Sound Forge (or other audio editing and production suite)

Experience with Flash Media Server a strong asset
Previous experience working in a fast-paced, multi-level, project based environment with emphasis on timelines and delivery an asset


Certificates, Designations, Languages:

Fluency in English required
Fluency in French an asset
