Job Description
This position contributes to and coordinates the French language editorial and content requirements of the Vancouver 2010 website in accordance with the overall strategy established by the Communications department.

This is an evolving position and responsibilities may shift over time. Titles may be adjusted from time to time to accurately reflect responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

Prioritize the needs for new French language content and updates
Write, edit and/or proofread various French language content areas for the website, obtaining necessary approvals prior to publishing
With the Internet Specialist (Producer/Editor), manage the website editorial calendar, specifically with an eye for content ideas of interest to the website’s French speaking audience
Ensure that all content is appropriate, accurate, current, compelling and user-friendly
With the Internet Specialist (Producer/Editor), maintain a consistent editorial style throughout the website and ensure the consistency of the website with all other VANOC materials
Develop new French language features and/or promotions for the website as needed
Contribute to the development the “general updates” newsletter for website subscribers
Work closely with the Internet Manager and Internet Specialist (Webmaster) to ensure the smooth functioning of the website
Work closely with Creative Services and Marketing to ensure that the website is both a reflection of the brand and an effective tool for communications
Coordinate the answering of French language e-mails to info@vancouver2010.com in a timely manner and collect statistics on frequency and topics
Other duties may be assigned as required
Job Requirements
Education/Experience:

3 – 5 years of related work experience in a similar role in a French language environment
University graduation or technical diploma from a recognized post secondary institution or equivalent combination of education and experience
Proven French writing and editing abilities
Experience in print or online media as writer or editor
Experience in online sports journalism and/or online communications a strong asset
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
Proven ability to make critical decisions independently without supervision
Ability to work closely and cooperatively with internal and external associates
Excellent organization, time-management, administrative and computer skills essential
Strong attention to detail
Practical experience with content management systems and website development process
Previous experience working in a fast-paced, multi-level, project based environment with emphasis on timelines and delivery an asset


Certificates, Designations, Languages:

Fluency in French required
