POSITION OUTLINE:
This position reflects the growing complexity of Simon Fraser University’s multi campus integrated voice and data network and our ongoing commitment to provide best of class network services in a diverse and technology rich community.

The position will provide leadership in the design of our integrated data network and the execution of various projects to upgrade and evergreen our infrastructure. This position will advise management of needs and plans for architectural change through involvement with regional, national, and international R&E networking organizations, industry working groups, and international engineering standards committees. This position will develop architectural requirements through close consultation with our various IT engineering groups as well as our external networking partners and providers. This position will manage numerous design and implementation projects working together with other senior IT engineers and project managers, and will participate in the formulation of goals and strategies for all aspects of information technology at SFU.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates with the following skills and experience are invited to apply: – Master’s degree in computing science or engineering science or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. – Five (5) years of related information technology experience with large scale operating systems and network support and a minimum of three (3) years of large scale data network design and development experience. – Specific experience in TCP/IP network design in a research centric environment including demonstrated experience in the design, implementation and management of next generation research networks. – Demonstrated excellence in leadership, large scale network engineering, and project management. – High level of skill in network performance design issues and network security/privacy design criteria. – Excellent analytical reasoning, problem-solving, time management, organizational, and communication skills.

SALARY RANGE: $70,377 – $84,041 per annum
START DATE: ASAP
