full time Web Designer

at Strangeloop Networks in Vancouver

Strangeloop Networks is looking for an experienced Web Designer on a contract basis. The successful candidate will use their creativity to improve the user experience of our network appliance interface. The Web Designer must have sound experience in visual design, and will influence the entire user interface from start to finish.

Duties:

Conceptualize and improve UI by producing mock-ups and image manipulations in Adobe Photoshop

Enhance the look-and-feel, and aesthetics of our product

Develop user profiles, scenarios and use cases
Construct prototypes and write design specifications
Set conceptual design and product direction based on research and functional requirements
Work with development team to translate the findings into design improvements
Qualifications:

Post secondary education in Computer Science, information architecture, graphic design or related discipline

3 or more years of direct UI design experience

Proficiency in graphics programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.

Demonstrated design skills and execution of the principles of layout, type, and use of color for different media

Technical competence in both Linux and Windows operating systems highly desired

Familiarity with ASP.NET and web server technologies highly desirable

Understanding of network infrastructure concepts, network devices and packet analysis highly desired

Excellent written and verbal communication
