full time Tier III Dedicated Server Support Administrator

Position Summary:

Hostway Canada is seeking a Tier III Dedicated Server Support Administrator who will operate within our dedicated support team. Our dedicated support team is a diverse, tight-knit group of individuals with a wide range of specialties in hardware, networking, security, programming, Linux, Windows and BSD. This is a challenging role in a rapidly expanding industry, requiring top-notch technical and customer service skills.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

3-6 Years experience working in IT.
Solid understanding of Web hosting and Internet technologies (LAMP, IIS, MSSQL, MTAs, etc.)
Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English.
Expertise with x86 platform installation/troubleshooting.
Prior experience as a senior or other role which involved mentoring and escalations from junior staff.
Works well under pressure and able to effectively manage time between on-the-spot emergencies and on going projects.
Willingness to work flexible shift work days and evenings. (Note: Tier III’s are not placed on the Graveyard schedule.)
Willingness to accept rotating on-call responsibility to provide after hours emergency senior coverage from time to time.
Preferred Skills:

Knowledge of networking fundamentals.
System administration experience with multiple Linux Distros.
Systems administration experience with Windows server platform.
Technical support or customer service experience.
Programming/scripting experience.
Experience with SQL
Experience with control panels. (cPanel, Webmin, Plesk, etc.)
Experience installing and troubleshooting Web applications. (CMSs, Forum software, etc.)
Experience with any combination of following: Apache, PHP, IIS, Postfix, Mailman, BIND, djbDNS, Sendmail, MailEnable, etc.
