Our Dedicated Support Team is a diverse, tight-knit group of individuals with a wide range of specialties in hardware, networking, security, programming, Linux, Windows, and BSD. This is a challenging role in a rapidly expanding industry, requiring top notch technical as well as customer service handling skills.

Hostway Canada is seeking a Tier III Dedicated Server Support Administrator who will operate within our Dedicated Support team. The successful candidate will possess solid technical knowledge and troubleshooting experience with both Linux and MS Windows server platforms and typical applications. Tier III is a Senior position within the Dedicated Support Team, and as such is primarily responsible for addressing more complicated and critical issues in the higher tier ticket queues, as well as accepting escalations from Tier II’s. Seniors as befit their experience and expertise, also have primary responsibility for handling V.I.P. accounts.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

3-6 Years experience working in IT
Solid Understanding of Web-Hosting & Internet technologies (LAMP, IIS, MSSQL, MTAs, etc.)
Excellent communication skills in English (Written & Spoken)
Expertise with x86 platform installation/troubleshooting
Prior experience as a Senior or other role which involved Mentoring & Escalations from more Junior staff.
Works well under pressure and able to effectively time manage on the spot emergencies with on-going projects.
Willingness to work flexible shift work days and evenings (Note: Tier III’s are not placed on the Graveyard schedule.)
Willingness to accept rotating on call responsibility to provide after hours emergency Senior coverage, as may be necessary from time to time.
Preferred Skills:

Knowledge of networking fundamentals
System Administration Experience with multiple Linux Distros.
Systems Administration Experience with MS Windows Server platform.
Technical Support or Customer Service Experience
Programming/Scripting Experience
Experience with SQL
Experience with Control Panels (cPanel, Webmin, Plesk, etc.)
Experience installing and troubleshooting Web Applications (CMSs, Forum software, etc.)
Experience with any combination of following: Apache, PHP, IIS, Postfix, Mailman, BIND, djbDNS, Sendmail, MailEnable, etc.
