Position Summary:

As a Global Systems Administrator at Hostway Corporation, you will be a key resource of the Global Systems Team, responsible for company-wide systems and services. Responsibilities include planning, documenting, and delivering technical projects, mentoring and training of junior staff and local Administrators, documenting and diagramming technical infrastructure, and taking initiative within the department in contributing to the reliability and scalability of a complex and heterogeneous production environment.

Reporting to the Lead of the Global Systems Team, the ideal candidate will have broad and combined knowledge in host and network security, systems automation via scripting, UNIX and Windows server operation, server farm management, LAN/WAN networking, and Database administration.

Essential Job Functions:

Maintain the integrity of production systems through best practices security measures.
Take the lead in the establishment of technical processes and standards to ensure the best possible service availability.
Resolve global systems and technical issues escalated by local systems teams.
Knowledge transfer to Junior staff.
Contribute to the efficient operation of servers, including e-mail, backup, web, and database, and their associated operating systems and software.
Evaluate new technology for applicability to product and corporate strategies.
Respond with effective troubleshooting in technical emergency situations.
Backup and disaster recovery planning.
Participation in Engineer On Call Rotation with your Peers for after- hours emergencies.
Qualifications, Skills And Experience:

3+ years of engineering experience in high operational tempo production environments.
Extensive knowledge of Windows and/or Linux Server administration, including applications such as IIS, Active Directory, SSH, Apache, Postfix, BIND, PowerDNS, MyDNS, MySQL, Asterisk, and Quagga.
Low-level familiarity with TCP/IP networking, including routing, bridging, firewalling, VPNs and load-balancing technologies, and Linux tools such as iptables and iproute2.
Programming experience, particularly with automation and debugging of services (C, Perl, Python, PHP, *sh) and code versioning systems.
Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
Hands-on experience troubleshooting server problems.
Must be able to operate in a large, heterogeneous, and dynamic technical environment.
Oral, written and auditory communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
