DUTIES: The successful candidate:

- Manages complex projects and/or business process design or improvement across all business groups at BC Hydro
- Works with the business units and external parties to research, identify, evaluate and implement technology opportunities that will be of material impact on BC Hydro´s workforce and operations while benefiting the business unit and BC Hydro success overall
- Drives idea generation and champions the integration of commercial technologies
- Seeks and establishes funding/other resources required to move technology initiatives forward
- Supports business case development
- Determines technical feasibility
- Assesses financial impact
- Performs risk assessments
- Creates implementation plans
- Tracks projects during handover and as they progress towards implementation in the business groups
- Develops relevant metrics and milestones
- Monitors progress against implementation plans.

QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will have:

- An advanced degree in business or technology (MBA, or masters level in engineering will be a strong advantage)
- Three or more years of project management experience, preferably in a technology environment
- Prior related industry experience in an energy or technology field
- Strong management, networking and collaboration skills
- Ability to influence BC Hydro employees of different levels and establish consensus
- Proven financial and analytical skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

- The Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) is responsible for defining and leading long-term technology initiatives throughout BC Hydro while supporting the transition of projects and near-term technologies in the business groups. This includes technologies in a number of important areas paramount to BC Hydro´s short and long-term goals, e.g., alternative energy, safety and security, distributed energy resources and energy efficiency
- The group works internally with the Business Groups of BC Hydro, as well as externally with universities, other electric utilities, industry organizations (e.g., Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI)), governments and venture capital firms to source and develop ideas and technologies that will drive impact in BC Hydro. The group is fast-paced and a source of energy and excitement for technology and its role in the future of BC Hydro
- This role is required to work with various business groups in conducting formal needs assessment and analysis of the groups´ technology needs
