Job Description:

GENERAL SUMMARY: To enhance and create test cases and test suites. A significant part of the role is to execute test procedures and document the results confirming software product functionality and integrity


EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS:

Under the guidance of your department manager, you are responsible for:

# Execution of tests to validate product functionality, usability, and overall quality
# Creation of test cases based upon requirements and standard test case templates
# Estimating effort for work packages prior to test execution start
# Recording the duration of work packages and test execution times
# Documenting risks to schedule and test execution
# Adhering to schedules established within work packages
# Evaluating test results against system requirement
# Reporting all defects and unexpected results via MDSI’s issue tracking tool
# Tracking issues to resolution throughout the test phase
# Escalating issue resolution as appropriate.
# Test Report preparation
# Being part of the team and assisting / communicating with the team members.
# Generating weekly status reports to the department manager

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY REQUIRED:
# 3-5 years experience in software testing
# Experience in testing complex software applications in a UNIX or Windows environment
# Knowledge of Database systems specifically Oracle PL/SQL
# Experience creating test scripts utilizing one or more of the following: PERL, UNIX Script, JavaScript, or HTML
# Experience developing test suites, test cases and test reports
# Experience presenting test results to a wide audience
# Knowledge of OO development methodologies
# Experience in Software Life cycle controls
# Understanding of test case automation methodology
# Capable of executing test cases independently
# Capable of reviewing test cases and suites for coverage and content
# Assists developers in reproducing problems found during testing
# Ability to understand the intended system function by reading specifications

WORK LOCATION: Richmond
STATUS: Regular full time
