Job Description
Based in Vancouver, B.C. the QA Team Lead will be responsible for leading a team through all phases of a project, ensuring the quality and successful delivery of all project deliverables. The position is responsible for planning the test effort, organizing the test team, and tracking the progress of the test effort. The QA lead is also responsible for training and developing their team members.

Key Responsibilities:
• Drive the creation and signoff of the project test plan including risk analysis, test strategy, and test scope.
• Review PRDs, Product requirements/specifications, and other technical documentation to ensure testability and completeness.
• Ensure proper test coverage while making efficient use of resources.
• Provide task estimations, and determine QA project task/resource schedule.
• Execute test plan. Determine when test cases are executed, and report key metrics and test results to the project team.
• Drive bug triage meetings. Inform team of possible risks, and make strategic decisions to keep projects moving forward.
• Help develop and improve SQA process and standards. Educate others on QA best practices.
• Coach and develop team members. Hold regular meetings with direct reports and chart out a development path. Provide regular feedback on performance.
• Ensure defect reports and test cases adhere to standards.
• Collaborate closely with Development, Program Management, and Support to analyze and resolve issues.

Required Skills & Experience:
• 6+ years of QA experience, 3+ years proven experience in coaching and developing team members
• Expertise in creating comprehensive test plans. Experience recognizing and mitigating risk.
• Thorough understanding of test metrics- gathering, reporting, and interpreting their meaning.
• In-depth knowledge of SDLC, particularly with agile development.
• In-depth knowledge of QA processes and test lifecycle.
• Strong knowledge of Windows O/S and SQL Server 2000 or later versions.
• Strong knowledge of Web and network technologies
• Solid understanding of requirement (use cases) and design documentation.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills


Assets:
• Expertise with MS Project
• Expertise testing SAAS or Enterprise-class software system
• Familiarity with BIOS and PC Hardware
• VSTS or source code management software experience
• Experience with Industry standard test automation, test and defect management tools.
• Familiarity with MAC, Unix O/S and file systems
• Programming/scripting experience
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with team members, developers and project managers

Education:
• A diploma or degree in computer technology or related discipline
