Job Description:

Independent Preschool to Grade 7 Elementary School on Vancouver's West Side seeks full-time Information Technology Manager to support the development and reliable delivery of Information Technology. The Information Technology Manager will:

Provide strategic direction in determining appropriate technology choices to support evolving information processing and communications requirements for the school. Liaise with teaching and senior administrative staff to ensure functional requirements are met and, where appropriate, are fully involved in the solutions development process.

Participate in strategic planning of network design, plans and implements systems, protocols and procedures for the school to better enable inter-institutional electronic communications and data flow.

Manage IT-related projects and programs, including a formal training program to assist faculty in use of technologies.

Provide network administration, support & training, and supervision of contracted personnel.

Qualifications:

University degree (Computer Science) or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum five years’ experience providing network and computer support in an instructional or equivalent computing environment. Demonstrated project management and organizational skills with an ability to prioritize service and development requests efficiently based on sound technical knowledge of task time requirements. Effective interpersonal and organizational skills and ability to work independently and in a team environment. High quality technical capabilities related to computers, including hardware and software, local and wide area networking, problem solving for clerical, administrative staff and teachers, basic training capabilities and with a commitment to the constant revision and upgrading of VTT internal and external communication links. The candidate requires expert proficiency in MS Windows and Mac servers, Windows XP and Vista workstation environments and Microsoft Office software. Knowledge of Unix, system management software and network security using firewall and VPN products (Cisco, Nortel) would be a definite asset.
