POSITION SUMMARY:

The Lighting/ Artist works with a game specific team of artists to create a mood and lighting vision to compliment the world modeling creation. The ideal candidate is an experienced 3d lighter with films or games lighting experience with such software as Renderman, Mental Ray or comparable.

REPORTING STRUCTURE:

This person reports to the lead lighter and works with game team Art Directors.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Creates light rigs for interior and exterior environment and solving lighting specific tech requirements.

Works closely with the shader artist group and world modeler to maintain quality and continuity of art.

Suggests improvements to the shading and texturing tools and pipelines.

DAILY TASKS:

Works with other artists to improve the lighting process and be hands on in lighting the world.

Collaborates with the Technical Art Directors and the Technical Artists within the game teams.

Researches new lighting methods and best practices from the Games and CG industries.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS:

* 2 years minimum of industry experience * Shipped at least 1 title on current gen platforms * Proficient in Maya, Photoshop and other related software * Excellent 2D painting skills and composition a plus * Post secondary diploma in 3D and/or fine arts or equivalent * Breadth of artistic styles * Excellent sense of color theory, detail, depth and form * Strong understanding of 3D space * Strong sense of light distribution * A good understanding of next gen lighting process Technical Skills / Expertise * Maya (preferred) or similar 3D Graphics Software package * Photoshop * Turtle * Z-Brush
