POSITION SUMMARY

The Quality Assurance Tester is responsible for the full functionality testing of pre-release games, reporting and verifying of game anomalies, providing detailed “bug reports” to QA Management, troubleshooting, and effectively communicating defects and design issues to production team.

REPORTING STRUCTURE

The QA Tester reports to the QA Lead and Project Manager

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Loads and tests games to provide clear and detailed written documentation to the game team

• Critically evaluate game play, technical requirements based on testing scripts and game performance

• Make lists of any defects or design issues found during testing and submit bug reports to the game developers and production team

• Executes test plans on pre-release versions of games to detect and record product defects

• Tests games for ease of use, reliability, consistency, and absence of product defects

• Readily identifies and articulates problem areas

• Communicates problems effectively to programmers, designers, artists, and other members of the development team

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS

• Three to five years of QA testing experience; 1-2 testing cycles minimum

• Strong written and verbal communication, planning, implementation, and interpersonal skills

• Excellent organization, time management, and analytical skills

• Good problem solving abilities

• Must work well with others and be able to manage cross-department expectations

• Must be a detail-oriented, versatile, and flexible team player who is self-motivated, responsible, hard-working, innovative, and dedicated

• Ability to define problems, recommend solutions, and help implement them in a resourceful manner.

• Ability to work as a team player and interact with other department personnel

TECHNICAL SKILLS / EXPERTISE

• Working knowledge of game Quality Assurance methodologies, terminology, and tools

• Preferred knowledge of the gaming industry and familiarity with good knowledge of current platforms, hardware, and OS

• Has comprehensive understanding of the test cycles and processes

• Understands operating systems, programming code, and their relationship to bugs
