full time Technical Sound Designer/Implementer

at Radical in Vancouver

Radical Entertainment is looking for an experienced technical sound designer for a permanent, full-time position. Successful candidates will understand the importance of designing, mixing, implementing and managing high quality game audio.

Responsibilities:

* Working with proprietary tools and in proprietary 3D environments, integrating sound with characters, weapons, vehicles and other objects and game locations * Designing, creating, editing, converting and managing large volumes of audio content * Working closely with sound director, designers, artists and programmers to creatively solve game development problems * Interfacing with contractors/vendors * Testing audio on target platforms

Qualifications:

* At least 2 years experience and/or 2 AAA published titles and a working understanding of the technical constraints of audio design for games. * Hands-on experience using proprietary and/or custom game audio tools on a shipped title (e.g. SCREAM, Xact, Wwise, FMOD etc). Implementation will form a large part of candidate’s responsibilities. Some scripting language knowledge is also desirable. * Ability to create and mix film-quality sound effects through extensive knowledge of relevant audio packages (Pro Tools, Nuendo, Sound Forge, Peak, etc). * Excellent communication and organizational skills and experience working closely with audio programmers. * Highly creative and imaginative with a keen attitude toward problem solving and an ability to quickly learn and use a variety of audio platforms/tools. * Great work ethic, positive attitude and able to take direction well. * Experience designing sound and developing sound implementation for shooting and/or driving games a definite bonus. * Canadian citizenship and residency is preferred.

All candidates must submit a demo reel exhibiting in-game sound design and implementation.
