full time System Support Specialist

Hatfield Consultants (Hatfield) is seeking a System Support Specialist to work out of our West Vancouver office. Hatfield is a well established (1974) and growing environmental consulting company that offers excellent career opportunities for highly motivated individuals. Responsibilities will include: assisting in the support of hardware including networks, PBX, servers, PCs and notebooks; assisting in the support of a network that includes Linux and Windows servers; assisting in the support of a virtual machine environment; and supporting a diverse scientific, financial, and administrative community of users.

The successful candidate will possess the following:
• Strong attention to detail;
• Excellent verbal and written English skills;
• Familiar with IIS, Apache, Apache Tomcat, multiple current Linux distributions, and Windows 2003 installations;
• Intimate knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol
• Familiar with a variety of RAID technologies
• Familiar with VMWare VMWare ESX, KVM and Xen;
• Familiar with Symantec Anti-Virus, AVG Antivirus and Symantec Backup EXEC;
• Familiar with PostgreSQL, mySQL, Samba;
• Interest in solving system problems by sleuthing;
• Responds calmly in an emergency; and
• The ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
