full time Test Lead

at Digifonica in Burnaby

Digifonica International Inc. is seeking a Test Lead for our Burnaby (Metrotown) office location.

The Test Lead ensures that new software releases are deployed to production with a minimum number of software defects.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Preparing testing plans, test suites and test cases. 2. Performing test functions, log bugs and preparing defect reports. 3. Working with staff for defect correction. 4. Providing technical support when required. 5. Reporting, documenting and setting the severity for defects, risks and issues. 6. Participating in defect review meetings with developers and clients. 7. Performing trouble-shooting of application installations. 8. Conducting integration and system tests of the application. 9. Executing tests and reporting on the results. 10. Participating in project review meetings and following the project requirements and schedules. 11. Performing optimization and improvement for testing standards and procedures. 12. Reviewing and updating bug reports periodically to keep the bug report system updated and integrated. 13. Any other duties as assigned.

Human Resource Management

May assist with supervising Tester, Test Analyst or QA personnel.

Information Resources

Maintenance of test plans, and Reporting of test results.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education:

* Minimum: University Degree, Diploma or equivalent in Computer Science and Technologies.

Previous Experience

* 2-5 years experience working in a quality assurance/testing role * Experience with web / client-server application testing * Experience in object-oriented software design and development, and Supervisory experience an asset

Key Competencies:

1. Familiarity with the entire software development life cycle 2. Experience with structured testing processes 3. Knowledge of database structure and queries 4. Some knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, MAC OS, FreeBSD and PHP 5. Familiarity with network infrastructures and communication protocols 6. Knowledge of GUI usability testing techniques, and Familiarity with automation and performance testing

This is a one-year maternity leave replacement position and it may be extended beyond this term if warranted. We will look at either employee or contract status depending on the individual. The salary or contract rate will depend on experience; benefits are offered to employees.
