Redback Networks, an Ericsson Company is looking for a Senior software engineer to join our Platform Software Group in Burnaby, B.C.

As a member of platform software development team, you will design, develop, integrate and test embedded software for multiple networking platforms. This software includes infrastructure components, device drivers, and kernel programs under embedded Linux, NetBSD, and/or VxWorks operating systems.

You will analyze new customer and marketing requests for feasibility, costs and development effort. You will work with existing customers to provide networking solutions and troubleshoot networking issues.

You will be responsible for developing new features, supporting existing features and debugging and trouble shooting software. You’ll be faced with complex technical challenges and will be tasked with creative solutions to these challenges. You will provide technical leadership to more junior developers.

You will work closely with the hardware development teams and other software development teams to bring up new hardware and integrate software with that hardware.

7-12 yrs of experience in embedded software development in the communications or networking industry is required. Considerable knowledge of processor architectures, C, C++, and assembly languages, as well as Linux, NetBSD, and/or VxWorks operating systems expected.

A general understanding is ISO standards related to both Quality Management Systems (QMS) and Environmental Management Systems (EMS) is a definite asset.

A BS or MS in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering is required.
