Job Description:

STEMCELL Technologies Inc, located in Vancouver, Canada, is a leading supplier of specialized cell culture media and cell separation products for life sciences research. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior IT Technician to be part of a dynamic IT team. STEMCELL’s network is a medium sized Windows 2003 R2 based network with over 240 systems and employees spread across North America, Europe and Australia.

STEMCELL Technologies has an energetic and talented IT team and as a member of this team, your role will be to assist in tier 2 helpdesk incidents as required along with planning and implementing company-wide network projects. You will work in a fast paced environment and have the opportunity to take part in every aspect of designing a medium sized network. More specifically, your responsibilities will include:=

•Windows 2003 R2 Network and Exchange 2007 Support
•Server Monitoring, maintenance and troubleshooting
•Assisting in the design, implementation and support of the network, global expansion, unified messaging and disaster recovery planning.
•Research and report on technologies such as Virtual Computing, Thin clients, hardware and backup technologies.
•Respond to network emergencies and security alarms and carry a pager
•Possibly traveling to remote sites to perform upgrades

Qualifications:

•Minimum of 6 years experience in the IT field and at least 2 years of networking related post secondary school or certifications.
•Experience in technologies such as HP Proliant Servers, VLANs, Routing, Juniper SSL VPN, VMware, Checkpoint NGX Firewall, Terminal Services, Building Security Systems, Symantec Backup Exec, Exchange 2007 will all be considered key assets.

The ideal candidate for this position is someone who is a strong team player, is highly organized, and already has experience taking a leadership roll in numerous IT related projects. This person is passionate about the IT industry and motivated to learn new technologies.
