Job Description:

STEMCELL Technologies Inc., located in Vancouver, Canada, is a leading supplier of specialized products for life science research. We have an immediate opening for a Software Engineer in our Research & Development department. Reporting to the Senior Biotechnology Automation Engineer, this position is responsible for all stages of the software development of automation devices, including ongoing development for RoboSep®.

Responsibilities:

•Contributing to machine concepts, design of control software, integration of software with electrical, mechanical motion systems, and process development.
•Develop new software programs for the RoboSep® platform, add functionality to existing platform. Programming and integration assignments involve leading-edge technologies and processes utilizing PC’s, robotics, motion controllers, vision systems and other controllers.
•Improve existing RoboSep®, trouble shoot product performance
•Maintain RoboSep® Software Design Specification, documentation, and Validation Testing, perform module-level validation testing.
•Develop software for other automation platforms at STI
•Program applications for other R&D activities
•These responsibilities are subject to change as a function of the individual’s abilities.

Qualifications:

•BSc or equivalent in Engineering or Computer Science.
•Demonstrated ability in software design and specification, particularly in object-oriented programming languages such as Visual C, as well as server-client .Net framework programming.
•Demonstrated ability in instrument control programming.
•3 years of programming experience in manufacturing or related industries.
•Specialization or on-the-job experience in mechanical, electrical, machine vision systems
•Multi-tasking, with the ability to work independently on several projects at the same time
